Brecht’s satirical allegory parallels the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany during the 1930s. The play is set in Chicago during the Prohibition era and follows the rise of a fictional gangster, Arturo Ui, who uses violence, intimidation, and manipulation to take over the cauliflower racket.
Produced in partnership with Stuart Hall School.
