Emily Bronte, Teenage Necromancer

1835. Northern England. The moors. A terrifying phantom has appeared at the Roe Head School for Girls, terrorizing its students and driving the school near to extinction. It’s up to star pupil Emily Brontë, and her sisters Anne and Charlotte, to discern the true nature of the haunting, using their unique talents—which happen to include necromancy. A gothic, hilarious ride through English literature that needs magic, ghosts, and fog, featuring an undead goose, a lovesick ghost, and a talking meat pudding.

Emily Bronte is our third all-valley high school show, combining talents from public, private, and home school students in the Shenandoah Valley. This performance opportunity aims to give kids an alternative to the musical theatre productions that most high schools focus on in the winter months, and to expand the theatre kid network. This will be an annual production of a non-musical that is available free of charge to participants, thanks to the generous support of donors and show sponsors.

Parfumerie

Parfumerie is a heartwarming and nostalgic romantic comedy set in 1930s Budapest. At Hammerschmidt’s Parfumerie shop, Christmas draws near, heightening the tension between employees Georg and Amalia, who can’t seem to agree on anything — especially their feelings for each other But unbeknownst to both, the two are actually secret pen pals who have fallen in love through anonymous letters. As secrets unfold and misunderstandings bloom, Parfumerie takes the audience on a journey of love, friendship, and second chances, highlighting the spirit of the season and the joy of unexpected connections.

Parfumerie inspired a number of movies and Broadway hits, including You've Got Mail, Shop Around the Corner, and She Loves Me.

Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts. Part of our Professional Performance Series, this production features talent from local and regional professional actors.

Parfumerie is a family-friendly show, though it does explore themes of suicide. The run time is approximately two hours with one ten-minute intermission.

ART by Yasmina Reza

Art centers on three friends: Serge, Marc, and Yvan. When Serge buys an expensive, all-white painting, it ignites a heated debate about its value, revealing deep-seated tensions. Marc is incredulous, Yvan tries to mediate, and their differing views on art test their friendship. This sharp, humorous play examines the subjective nature of art and the fragility of human relationships.

Hush-a-bye Baby by Jeremy West

As chilling as if Edgar Allan Poe and Alfred Hitchcock wrote for the theatre, Hush-a-bye Baby unfolds the enigmatic narrative of a spinster whose dark deeds involve the inexplicable vanishing of infants. Seen through the lens of her reclusive neighbour, a suspicion emerges, shrouding the neighbourhood in dread and uncertainty.
