Sleuth: Mystery + Combat (grades 5-7) | June 16-20
Step into the world of whodunits and sharpen your acting skills in this mystery-themed theatre camp. Through scene study, character work, and improvisation, campers will explore famous detective stories and create their own mystery scene. In the afternoon, we’ll learn the basics of stage combat and choreograph simple but thrilling fight sequences and chase scenes.
The morning session will be focused on theatre-making. We’ll explore:
Scene study from classic and comedic mysteries
Acting exercises focused on suspense, deception, and comedic timing
Collaborative creation and performance of an original mystery scene
The afternoon session will be focused on stage combat:
Learn the basics of stage combat safety, including distance, eye contact, and non-verbal communication
Practice safe stage falls, dodges, and exaggerated reactions to make action look real without risk.
Explore simple, age-appropriate techniques like pushes, grabs, and escapes.
Work on dynamic movement sequences, including sneaking, escaping, and comedic pratfalls

Location: 211 N Lewis St, Staunton
Morning session campers should bring a snack and water bottle.
Full day campers should pack a healthy lunch. We do not have refrigeration.
Afternoon campers should please wear clothes you can easily move in and closed-toe athletic shoes
